Surprise

I heard the weather report for the weekend on the news. I saw it on the internet. And I laughed. This is, after all, April.

Yes, the date at the top is correct. When I walked into my kitchen this morning to switch the kettle on for my coffee, I looked out the window and said, "Oh. My. God."

Dig over the ground? I can't even see the ground.

Never have I experienced a more accurate weather forecast.

Out of interest, for those in the UK, the latest prediction for the summer is that it is going to be "somewhat warmer and wetter". Warmer would be nice after the damp squib that was the summer of 2007. Wetter ... well, okay, perhaps that will definitively preclude a hosepipe ban, such as we had in 2006. Perhaps then I can postpone getting a water butt, "just in case".

At the end of the day, who can say? I just hope everything is okay in the left border. A blanket of snow in April was not something I took into account when planting!

I've just had a look, and although the snow is already melting away a bit, everything looks rather droopy, and sad. Will my tulips open now? Will the Euphorbia spring back upright, like it was yesterday? Oh, for a little bit of sun.

  1. Oh, you poor thing. I hope I don't have to see any more of that stuff for many mnay months. We have 60 degrees today for the first time. Nice. I finally got my fingernails dirty.
